London’s hidden neon mecca
“Why on earth are we going to Walthamstow?!” exclaimed my friend and long time Londoner as we jumped on the tube at Brixton. “Trust me” I replied with a smile. Hidden amongst the rows of houses and warehouses is one of my favourite places in London.
God’s Own Junkyard is London’s very own mecca to neon signage is tucked away in a wee corner of Walthamstow, a 15 minute trot from the tube (15 mins journey from Kings Cross station on the Victoria line) into the heart of 2019’s London borough of Culture – Waltham Forest.
Stepping in through the front door, You’ll find yourself in a kaleidoscopic Aladdins cave of all things neon, LED, and shiny, paying homage to all the good things in life: Sex, drugs, and rock ‘n roll – as well casinos, lidos and religious icons.
Whilst your there, stop for a coffee and some cake at in-house cafe Rolling Scones.
If you are not in a hurry, stop by Wild Card Brewery for a pint, or if beer is not a bit of you sample the gin at Mothers Ruin Gin Palace.

Although I live in London, I still haven’t made it to God’s own junkyard. Not quite sure why, but somehow never quite managed. But I definitely need to go, it looks just so much fun
Its fantastic – I highly recommend it
